As a new year blinks through the fear, Nottingham producer Ex-Friendly offers us this darkly Balearic groove inspired by a Sun Ra exhibition he visited several years ago.

A yellow room can make you feel happy or bring up feelings of anxiety, and perhaps this slice of mysterious downbeat pressure sits somewhere between these opposing emotional states. The questioning chords push and pull, never quite settling around the drums, whilst a clipped acoustic guitar, an elusively modulated voice and a fearful organ have their dystopian energy tempered by the interstellar positivity of the whispering synths.

A compelling groove for these uncertain times.
